What Is The Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa?

The Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa category is designed for candidates to apply for immigration to the UK on the grounds that they have a substantial investment or by starting or gaining control of UK based business. For the Entrepreneur visa you will need to have available £200,000 to invest in a new business or buy a business. You will also have to employ 2 full time staff. After 3 years if you have met these conditions you can apply for a Tier 1 Entrepreneur extension followed by indefinite leave to remain after you have completed a full 5 years in te UK.

Eligibility For Tier 1 Entrepreneur Applications

The Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa category is designed for candidates to apply for immigration to the UK on the grounds that they have a substantial investment or by starting or gaining control of UK based business. For your application to be successful, you must score a total of 95 points and meet all the other requirements of the Immigration Rules. If you are already in the UK in a different immigration category, you can find out whether you can ‘switch’ into Tier 1 Entrepreneur.

Access to investment funds
You have access to not less than £200,000
or
You have access to not less than £50,000 from:
1 or more registered venture capital firms regulated by the Financial Services Authority;
1 or more UK entrepreneurial seed funding competitions listed as endorsed on the UK Trade and Investment website, or
1 or more UK government departments, which have made the funds available for the specific purpose of establishing or expanding a UK business.

You must ensure that you have the correct maintenance fees fo reach of your family members and that this money is held in your account for at least 90 days.

Can I Work For Another Company With A Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa?

No, you must not work for any other company or carry out any work that is not related to your Tier 1 Business. Your spouse can work while in the UK, but you can’t. You can work within your own business so if you have set up an IT consultancy business and employ several IT technical staff you can work within your own company in whatever capacity you see fit.
